Description

The term "white-collar crime" refers to many different forms of illegal activity. The study of white-collar crime has challenged commonly accepted explanations of crime and has introduced new complexities at all levels of the criminal justice system. This course will examine how white collar crime is defined and understood in the law and other disciplines; the different types of white collar crime; how it is different and similar to other criminal activity; the perpetrators and victims; corporate and individual deterrence; and perceived disparities in sentencing.
