Description

This course examines the logic of inquiry and the necessity for an empirical approach to practice. This course involves a critical examination of practice through an understanding of methods associated with decision-making, critical thinking, and ethical judgment. Students formulate practice relevant research questions, locating and critically evaluating relevant research evidence with consideration of the extent to which it can be applied to diverse clientele, applying the best available evidence in intervention planning with the client, and evaluating the intervention. Students are expected to become familiar with issues related to the design, monitoring, and assessment of social work programs and interventions, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
