Description

Study of the application of linguistic theory to language arts education, including an overview of linguistics, and its impact on oral and written communication, phonics, motivation and engagement. Course goals encompass an understanding of the linguistic growth of children, application of linguistics to speaking and listening, viewing, visually representing, and demonstration of effective instructional practices for developing phonics, morphology, syntax, reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills. Prerequisite: EDU 3210.
